History of the Tribune-Review

Our newspaper roots date back to 1889 in Greensburg with the debut of the Daily Tribune.

NewsWorks, the Tribune-Review's new, $43 million printing facility in Marshall Township, north of Pittsburgh, brings state of the art printing to western Pennsylvania.

A series of upstart ventures and mergers produced the Tribune-Review, which debuted Oct., 8, 1955, with morning and evening editions. One year later, excavation began on Cabin Hill Drive for the new home of the paper. In 1961, the Tribune-Review would officially relocate from its North Main Street offices. The Tribune-Review officially began publication of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Dec, 17, 1992 from offices located in the historic Express House in Station Square, along the banks of the Monongahela River directly across the Smithfield Street Bridge from Downtown .

Expansion has continued on two fronts. Today, the Tribune-Review, with its state-of-the-art facilities and satellite offices, is the most rapidly expanding newspaper in the country, with circulation increasing at a rate greater than 700 new customers per week.

On Sept. 10, 1996, the Tribune-Review broke ground on a new $43 million printing plant in Marshall Township, Allegheny County. The 145,000-square-foot NewsWorks plant officially opened October 24, 1997.

The organization's electronic version of the Tribune-Review, TRIButaries, debuted in 1995. On March 2, 1998, TRIButaries officially became PittsburghLIVE.

On April 25, 2006, PghTrib.com and Tribune-Review.com debuted.
